Day Care Cooking Class: Colourful Skewer Pancakes for Seollal

Our center filled up with a wonderful savoury smell.

We spent time with our residents making colourful skewered pancakes!

Threading on ham, crab stick, spring onion and mushroom one by one with great care, they said, “I used to make these all the time at the holidays,” and “I’ve made more of these than anyone!” — and the memories came flowing out.

At the sound of them sizzling to a golden brown, all eyes were on the pan, and when they were flipped there was applause and a chorus of “Ooh, perfect!”

Good food holds memories, and in this cooking class memories and laughter ripened together. ♡
